SMS Annual Christmas Program a Holiday Hit!
December 17, 2014
Our talented and dedicated music teacher, Ms. Stephanie Osterberg, and students presented "Miracle on Bethlehem Street" on Dec. 17. The musical by Lowell Alexander and Tom Long delighted the audience by retelling the Christmas story with fun, heartfelt songs and clever lines.
A cast of 6th graders portrayed the characters, while 2nd through 5th graders performed as the chorus. As in years past, the show kicked off with kindergarteners and 1st graders entertaining the audience with some playful holiday songs and antics. Enjoy the slide show of photos shared by Ms. Autumn Nelson.
THE STORY (taken from the screenplay book):
Bethlehem has never been busier! Caesar's census has the entire town in a frenzy and, of course, everyone's favorite innkeeper plans to capitalize on the coming crowds. He has decided to make his inn a luxury inn complete with valet camel hitching and a fig on every pillow.
THE SONGS: Bethlehem Is Busy, Dollars and Census, Make a Place, Everybody Wants to Stay, Flock Watchers, Chasing a Star, Miracle on Bethlehem Street, and Receive the King.
